On the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal, the UK's first custom built Media City is emerging.

Peel Holdings, a leading UK Property Developer, is behind the building of MediaCity UK.It created an inhouse division, Peel Media, to manage the fit out of MediaCity UK, where they intend to create the largest purpose-built media community in Europe. To achieve this MediaCity UK needs a shared media infrastructure that will aggregate demand across multiple clients to deliver the benefits of scale.  

Peel selected Mediasmiths at an early stage, which allowed us to advise on the design of a genuinely new shared media infrastructure. Mediasmiths worked along side TSL as the broadcast systems integrator chosen by Peel, and key Peel Media personnel such as David Carr, Peel Media Operations Director. Mediasmiths provided a range of services:

• We produced an overall system architecture that would enable multi-tenancy sharing of services
• We produced the service descriptions for the list of services that their clients had expressed interest as taking as shared services
• We carried out detailed review of specific technology designs, notably networking and datacentres
• We produced, with David Carr, a highly innovative new design for scheduling and optimising resource allocation in operations
• We provided research and direction on the business plan
