The Directors
Niall is a recognised lead in media technologies services particularly in the areas of digital workflows and end to end media operations. Niall typically operates at a senior level where he helps customers to shape their thinking, and then as a senior adviser on implementations, where he provides an ability to help resolve issues using a combination of experience and pragmatism - a characteristic that has become a key part of the Mediasmiths culture.
He co-founded Mediasmiths in 2007 when he observed that larger technology services companies were failing to understand the complexities of implementing new technology systems in broadcast. At Mediasmiths he has pioneered the use of more agile approaches to designing media technologies based on an understanding of both IT and broadcast technology. He was the former European Broadcast Solutions Lead, at IBM’s Digital Media Practice, and has a long track record in advising broadcast, telecoms and entertainment firms.
As CTO of Mediasmiths, Steve is a recognised expert in the areas of content creation, management, protection and delivery, and service oriented architecture. He provides overall technical leadership within the company, and is directly involved in our more complex and innovative client projects.
Prior to founding Mediasmiths alongside Niall, Steve was Chief Architect in the IBM Media & Entertainment practice and led the design and implementation of novel technical solutions for major media clients, and the development of IBM's SOA approach for Media and Entertainment within the UK. Steve has a background in analysis, development and technical leadership gained in senior level in global blue-chip companies.
The Team
Peter has expertise in solution architecture, media asset management, media workflows and all things metadata. He has previous consulting experience in integration design, web services and SOA at IBM, where he worked closely on client projects with Steve and Niall.
Chris manages the Mediasmiths analysis and project delivery capability. With a mathematics background, his strength is in problem solving and issue analysis. He has particular experience with the delivery of CRM, rights management and media asset management projects.
Ainslie's areas of expertise include project and logistics management, requirements gathering, research and analysis of industry trends, and assisting with the development and execution of test strategies and plans. She has international experience business and media, and a particular interest in business operations and strategic market development. Ainslie is currently completing a part-time doctorate that explores the consumer behavior aspect of a new online business model in the recorded music industry.
Andrew has deep expertise in post-production technology. He has experience as a freelance editor and director, and as Technical Manager Post Production North for ITV Productions. At ITV, he instigated the adoption of a new editing platform, using it as the core of a tapeless production system for drama.
Ben is experienced in supporting the implementation of media asset management solutions using an agile methodology. Ben also has an understanding of solutions architecture and test processes, which have been developed from a background in IT. Ben has previous non-media IT experience in UK & Spain.
Leith has expertise in delivering production and workflow improvement projects. He previously worked for the BBC as a production technology consultant, focusing on file-based acquisition technology and non-linear editing.
Michelle handles all office management responsibilities, allowing the Mediasmiths team to focus on our clients' needs.
Roelien has experience in requirements gathering, project planning, and project management, and applies that experience to the advantage of our clients mainly in large-scale projects.
Damon has been involved in delivering major projects for major broadcasters and media services agencies, and has been responsible for requirements gathering, analysis and development of key project documents such as user stories, technical specifications and test scripts. He is also experienced in tracking down and troubleshooting project risks and issues, particularly in agile environments.
Emil has expertise in application development using agile methods. He has specific experience in developing media technology systems based on SOA principles, and has worked with some major clients in the UK and Holland, including ITV. Before joining Mediasmiths, he worked at Accenture.
Kevin is our Sales and Marketing Manager, and comes to the Mediasmiths team with a successful background in sales, marketing and business development in the broadcast and film arena. With seven years at Snell & Wilcox leading international business development and two years running the worldwide marketing department Kevin's most recent role prior to Mediasmiths was as UK Sales and Marketing Director for Technicolor Creative Services.
Mariusz is a part of the technical solutions team at Mediasmiths, and specialises in designing and implementing solutions that exploit business process management, business rules management and integration platform technologies for media specific applications. Mariusz has been instrumental in establishing the Mediasmiths leadership position in this field.
